Batavia Population in 1893
as reported in the Batavia Herald on 24 August 1893
The following census has been taken of East Batavia, by Z. Esmay, in a competent manner, being the number of actual residents of East Batavia, up to August 8th, 1893.
West side census was taken by E.F. Stafford in a very able manner
(Submitter's note: Batavia is divided by the Fox River and even in present day, one gives directions based on which side of the river you live on - east or west)
