Ayr United cruised into the second round of the CIS Insurance Cup thanks to first-half goals from Mark Casey and Ryan Caddis against Berwick Rangers.
Midfielder Casey sent them on the way after 18 minutes when he fired home from 25 yards.
Paul Weaver hit the post and there were a succession of close calls before Caddis sunk a 39th-minute penalty after Tom Britton brought down David Dunn.
Kevin Haynes missed for Berwick, but Ayr squandered chances of their own.
