Ahanfouf in intensive care
Morocco and Arminia Bielefeld's Abdelaziz Ahanfouf
Morocco's Abdelaziz Ahanfouf is in hospital in Germany
Morocco and Arminia Bielefeld striker Abdelaziz Ahanfouf is in intensive care after a car accident.

Ahanfouf is in a stable condition after he sustained head injuries in a motorway accident.

The 29-year-old striker, who has won six caps for his country, was in a serious accident on Monday night when the jeep he was driving collided with the back of the Dutch lorry.

Ahanfouf was driving to his home in Ruesselshiem, near Frankfurt, Germany, when his jeep hit the truck, becoming lodged under the vehicle's rear and emergency services had to cut him out before rushing him to hospital.

The doctor in charge of Ahanfouf says the air bags in his jeep saved his life and although the player received facial injuries, a scan has found no fractures or bleeding on the brain.

He is expected to be released from hospital on Thursday.

The striker joined Bielefeld from Duisburg in the summer of 2006 and has yet to make an appearance for the Bundesliga club this season.
