John Junker was sentenced to eight months in prison.

Former Fiesta Bowl Chief Executive John Junker has been released from federal custody and is working as operations manager at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, according to his attorney.

Junker last year was sentenced to eight months in custody for his role in a campaign-finance scandal that embarrassed the post-season college football game.

Steve Dichter, Junker's attorney, said Wednesday that his client was released Feb. 11. His sentence included time in a minimum-security prison in Tucson and at a half-way house.

Dichter said Junker still faces a $20,000 fine he must pay while on community supervision and probation.

"His job was kept for him, and he's at work," Dichter said.

Officials from St. Vincent de Paul could not be reached.
