Ricky Gervais has confirmed that Life's Too Short will return for a second series.

The Warwick Davis-fronted sitcom completed its first series this week on BBC Two. Studio bosses are rumoured to have been underwhelmed by the series, with sources claiming his next project may air on Channel 4.

However, Gervais tweeted that the next outing for the sitcom will air in spring 2013.

He also confirmed plans for a special episode of An Idiot Abroad on Sky1, starring Karl Pilkington. The special will see Pilkington team up with Davis on a trip called The Short Way Round, and is expected to air in late 2012.

Gervais wrote: "FAQ Second Series of Life's Too Short Planned for spring 2013 An Idiot Abroad Special: The Short Way Round planned for end of 2012 (sic)".

The comedian will host his third Golden Globes ceremony in a row on January 15, 2012.
