Girls season two will air in the UK just a day after US transmission, Sky Atlantic has confirmed.

The first season of the HBO comedy-drama is currently airing on the channel, with the second now set to debut on January 14 at 10pm - the day after the US premiere.

The Lena Dunham series will air alongside new series Comedy Republic and a re-run of Sky's Hunderby as part of a 'Comedy Mondays' line-up.

Patrick Wilson (A Gifted Man), Shiri Appleby (Life Unexpected) and Donald Glover (Community) are among the stars to have signed up for roles in season two of Girls.

It was reported last week that HBO is close to picking the show up for a third season, though the cable network is yet to officially confirm the renewal.

"We're looking forward to the launch of season two and hope to have good news shortly thereafter," HBO said in a statement.

Girls season two will be available to UK residents on Sky Atlantic HD, Sky Atlantic +1 and on the move with Sky Go.
