Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac will star in indie The Promise, to be directed by Hotel Rwanda helmer Terry George.
The film, set in the last days of the Ottoman Empire, centers on the relationships between Michael (Isaac), a brilliant medical student; the beautiful and sophisticated Ana; and Chris (Bale), who is a renowned American journalist based in Paris.
The project, based on a script by George and Robin Swicord, will shoot in Southern Europe including Portugal and the Canary Islands this fall.
Mike Medavoy, Eric Esrailian, Ralph Winter and William Horberg are producing.
Bale recently appeared in Exodus: Gods and Kings, and his upcoming films include Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups, The Big Short with Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling and Malick’s Weightless. He’s repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
Isaac has a couple big years ahead of him, starring in both Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens which opens in December and next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. The Ex Machina star is repped by UTA, Inspire Entertainment and Stone, Meyer.
