The collection consists of correspondence, writings, scrapbooks, printed material, photographs, and other papers, documenting aspects of the life and work of Julia Ellsworth Ford and her relationships with literary and artistic figures of the early 20th century, including, among others, John Butler Yeats and William Butler Yeats.

The papers consist of letters to Lawrence Gilman from various writers, poets, editors, and musicians, including Winifred Welles, Carl Van Vechten, Winston Churchill, John Farrar, Otto Klemperer, Marian MacDowell, H. L. Mencken, Ezra Pound, Bruno Walter, John Butler Yeats, and William Butler Yeats. A small amount of letters are from Gilman family members and an unidentified correspondent. Other papers include a draft of Gilman's "Bach the Great Modern," two notebooks, and clippings.

The Ezra Pound Papers document the literary career and political interests of Ezra Pound. Major correspondents include Richard Aldington, George Antheil, William Bird, T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, James Laughlin, Wyndham Lewis, Marianne Moore, Odon Por, and Henry Swabey. The collection contains manuscripts of many of Pound's works, including the Cantos, Guide to Kulchur, and scripts of Pound's wartime radio broadcasts.
