‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ – New Trailer Delivers All the Nostalgic Fun of Classic ‘Ghostbusters’!

Published

The Ghostbusters franchise returns to the big screen in less than two months, with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire introducing a brand new villain in theaters on March 22, 2024.

Watch the brand new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire below!

Director Gil Kenan (Monster House) noted in recent comments that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is partially inspired by the 1980s animated series “The Real Ghostbusters,” so we can expect to see fresh mythology and a wacky array of new ghosts in this year’s brand new sequel. We can also expect to see Slimer, a staple of the classic animated series!

This latest official trailer doubles down on the nostalgic fun, celebrating 40 years of the original classic with what looks to be something more closely resembling an official Ghostbusters 3 than we’ve ever seen to date. We’re back in New York City for more ghost-busting fun, with classic legacy characters battling brand new spectral threats we’ve never seen before.

And yes, even the iconic Library Ghost is back this time around!

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.

But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

The cast includes Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind, alongside Bill Murray, Finn Wolfhard, Ernie Hudson, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd and Carrie Coon.

Jason Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is back to produce Frozen Empire.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

The next installment in the Jurassic World franchise continues to build its main cast, with THR reporting tonight that Rupert Friend (Asteroid City) is the latest actor to sign on.

He’ll join the previously announced Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) in the franchise’s next film.

Gareth Edwards (2014’s GodzillaThe Creator) will be directing the new installment, with original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp returning to write the screenplay.

Jurassic World returns to theaters on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned for more.

The new movie is expected to usher in a brand new Jurassic Era with Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. Don’t expect the original trilogy’s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, either. The new Jurassic World, from what we gather, plans to take the franchise in a new direction, with plot details under wraps.

The next Jurassic World film will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce and David Leitch and Kelly McCormick will also produce through 87North.

Executive Vice President of Production Development Sara Scott and Creative Executive of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the Studio.

This news comes in the wake of Jurassic WorldJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion, a trilogy of sequels to the original classic that concluded in 2022. The last entry, Jurassic World: Dominion, brought in a billion dollars at the global box-office, all but ensuring Universal would want to continue this franchise.

The franchise will also return to the small screen with “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” this year, an animated series from Netflix set in the world of “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.”
