CNY Central is excited to announce that the NBC3 team will launch the area’s first 7 p.m. newscast “NBC3 News at 7 With Michael Benny”.

‘At a time when many local news operations are shrinking, I am thrilled to keep growing our news content in a way that provides even more options for our viewers to be better informed. That’s a testament to the work our entire team has done with an already strong line up of newscasts airing each week across three stations.” General Manager Amy Collins said.

The Syracuse area’s first 7 p.m. Broadcast newscast will be anchored by Michael Benny, who also anchors the CBS5 News at 5, 5:30 6 & 11 p.m. “I’m thrilled to bring Michael Benny, an award-winning journalist already well known for his work with CBS5, to our NBC3 audience at a new time that is convenient for so many busy families in the Central New York community.’ Collins said.

“Our NBC3 News Team is always ‘Working For You’ and adding Michael Benny to the successful evening and late news team lead by Megan Coleman and Matt Mulcahy is just the latest example of our commitment to serve this community with impactful journalism,” said News Director Sean Carroll. “In Michael Benny, our NBC3 News at 7 audience will find a journalist who is able to identify the emotional connection they share with each news story.”

“So many homes are just settling down at 7 o'clock and I can't wait to be with you at that time.” said Michael Benny. “If you're ready for a newscast that takes a day of news alerts, cuts through the clutter - and calms things down with unique context and perspective, I'm ready to deliver it.”

Benny will also continue his reporting and anchoring duties on CBS5. “NBC3 News at 7 With Michael Benny” will launch on Monday, October 7.
