Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. In order to prevent impersonation, Wikipedia's username policy requires that well-known people using their real names confirm their identity by contacting the Wikimedia Foundation at info-en@wikimedia.org. Until this process is completed, you may find that use this account has been temporarily blocked as a precaution. -- Rrburke (talk) 23:35, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Senator levin, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. However, do not create a new account if you wish to credit your existing contributions to a new name through a username change. To request a username change:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to edit this talk page even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a list of names that have already been taken. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am Senator Carl Levin. Please unblock my user account. If you do not believe I am Carl Levin, then please contact my office in Lansing.

Decline reason:

Please request unblock again once you've verified your identity as directed below. Obviously, we need to verify when a Wikipedia editor claims to be an important and influential figure. --jpgordon::==( o ) 22:47, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Could you or one of your staff members, using a @senate.gov or @carllevin.com email address, please email info-en-q@wikimedia.org to confirm this? Thank you. NW (Talk) 21:20, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have sent an email to this address. You should have received one from senator@levin.senate.gov. Thank you. Senator Levin (talk) 00:14, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have unblocked your account, Senator Levin. Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions. NW (Talk) 02:40, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

I suggest that the OTRS ticket number be tracked on the user page. Also it may be a good idea to request an account rename from "Senator levin" to "Senator Levin" to correct the case, if desired. (or to "Carl Levin" if so desired). I can assist with either of these tasks if desired. ObDisclose: I am one of Senator Levin's constituents. ++Lar: t/c 14:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Something similar to {{otrs|otrs=2010053010000129}} should do I think. ++Lar: t/c 14:57, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please use a more specific OTRS template. See the Template:OTRS or below for available templates. Template:OTRS could refer to one of several templates related to the OTRS system. Instead of using this template, use one of the more specific templates listed below.
