Three for the Weekend: Museums, Marathon, Market

The end of May is an exciting but stressful time for many – pupils, students, their parents and teachers. Here are some weekend tips to unwind!

Museum Night

More than 217 Latvian museums and other public organizations will welcome visitors free of charge on May 18, Museum Night, offering diverse events. This is the 20th year of Latvian museums participating in the International Night of museums.

Museum Night takes place throughout Latvia, so chances are there is something nearby wherever you are in the country. The title 'Museum Night' has over time become a little deceptive, as it is not just museums opening doors to their exhibits – organizations are setting up games, lectures, activities, films and more.

Find your event on the official website.

Riga Marathon

As runners big and small surely know, this weekend is marathon weekend in Rīga. Registration for a limited number of spots is still currently still open for the marathon, half-marathon, 10 km and 5 km, so if you wish to be active, this is your chance!

You can see the events and register on the Riga Marathon website.

Walking Market

On May 18 and 19, a 'walking' market, meaning combining your walk with viewing and perhaps buying some local design crafts, arts, foodstuffs, clothing and whatever else Latvian producers have come up with.

The market will take place in Mežaparks Park, on both Saturday and Sunday 11:00 to 17:00.
