Kim Petras parties with Paris Hilton in dreamy 'I Don't Want It At All' video

Kim Petras is a literal pop princess in her new video.

The rising singer nods to the “Princess and the Pea” fairy tale in the ultra-colorful clip for her acclaimed debut single, “I Don’t Want It At All,” a shop-’till-you-drop anthem co-written and produced by embattled hitmaker Dr. Luke, Cirkut, Aaron Joseph, and Lil Aaron.

Petras says she and her best friend came up with the concept for the video, which is premiering on EW today, and pitched it to director-photographer Charlotte Rutherford. “This video is a teen girl’s fantasy to me,” Petras told EW over email. “It’s inspired by pillow talk, the ‘Princess and the Pea,’ and it ends with me stomping on a miniature Hamptons in heels as a girly Godzilla moment.”

And for a song about the shameless pursuit of luxury and the finer things in life, Petras recruited the perfect co-star: Paris Hilton, who had previously worked with Rutherford and accepted Petras’ invitation to appear in the video right away. “She was really the sweetest, most lovely professional person and killed it,” Petras says. “And she couldn’t have been more perfect for the song and the video!”

Petras released “I Don’t Want It At All” in August and followed it up last month with two more tracks: the funky “Hillside Boys” and the chilled-out “Hills,” featuring Baby E. Prior to starting her music career, Petras, who identifies as transgender, was known for being one of the youngest people to ever undergo gender confirmation surgery and has spoken about her hope of increasing transgender visibility and becoming a role model for transgender youth.

And while her music has earned critical acclaim, she’s also attracted attention for her choice of collaborators: All three songs were co-written with, among others, producer Dr. Luke, who has been largely absent from the pop music scene since Kesha filed a lawsuit in 2014 alleging, among other claims, sexual assault and abuse; Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald) has repeatedly denied Kesha’s allegations and filed defamation and breach-of-contract countersuits. Earlier this year, Petras told OUT that while she was initially “skeptical” about working with him after a mutual collaborator suggest they meet, Dr. Luke has “been nothing but nice” to her.
