360 Essentials

Matthew James Colwell took the name 360 and hit the scene with 2008's What You See Is What You Get. But it was the subsequent Falling & Flying and Utopia where he really hit his stride, using precise lyricism and a head-turning cadre of beatmakers and producers to command Top 10 spots on the ARIA charts. The sound—a rude and radio-friendly mix of hip-hop, dub and pop with huge hooks—helped bring Oz hip-hop to mainstream masses. In 2014, his opening slot for Eminem's Australia tour brought him to the next level of visibility—and helped him find a broad platform to engage in the social issues that had long been part of his music.
