Christina Aguilera is bringing Burlesque to the stage!

On Thursday, Entertainment Weekly reported that Aguilera, 42, is executive producing a stage musical adaptation of her 2010 movie musical, citing a source. Titled Burlesque: The Musical, the stage adaptation is written by Steven Antin, who wrote and directed the original movie, the outlet reported.

The upcoming musical is expected to include songs Aguilera, Diane Warren and Sia wrote for the 2010 movie, as well as new music written by Todrick Hall and Jess Foley, per EW. The production is expected to premiere in the United Kingdom, though a timeframe for its debut has not been released.

Representatives for Antin, Aguilera and Warren did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment Friday. Antin, who made his feature directorial debut with Burlesque, did confirm to EW in an email Thursday that "the stage musical adaptation is happening."

"Very exciting," he wrote.

Hall, 38, also confirmed the musical's existence in an Instagram post he shared Thursday following the first report.

"This is BIG! I’ve been secretly working on this for the past year!" Hall wrote in a caption to the post. "I guess the cat is out of the bag! Can’t wait for you all to hear the new tunes I’ve been creating! It’s always been my dream to write a musical, this is step one!"

EW also reported that Antin's sister, choreographer Robin Antin, appeared to reference the musical adaptation in an Instagram post earlier this week that has since been deleted. Robin wrote in a caption that working on an upcoming stage project with Steven "has been the most unforgettable experience," the outlet reported.

"Working together 24/7 on this beautiful new venture, (to be announced soon) is exactly what our Mum always wanted for us!" she added in the post's caption.

Steven previously told EW in 2020 that he was working on "a re-imagination" of Burlesque, which starred Aguilera as aspiring performer Ali, who moves to Los Angeles and takes a job at a burlesque club owned by a woman named Tess, portrayed by Cher.

"It morphs what's best about TV, Broadway, film, and digital entertainment," he said about the project at the time. "It's a hybrid television event/series taking the movie to the next level."

The Burlesque movie also featured performances from Cam Gigandet, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci, Eric Dane, Alan Cumming and Julianne Hough, among others. The upcoming musical adaptation is expected to premiere in the U.K. sometime in the future, as EW reported.
