8 P.M. (Food Network) CHALLENGE: LAST CAKE STANDING In this season finale the three remaining contestants have 24 hours to make a 5-foot-tall Sweet 16 birthday cake -- for sextuplets. The winner walks away with $50,000.

(HBO) THE NO. 1 LADIES' DETECTIVE AGENCY Precious (Jill Scott) starts sleuthing on behalf of Mma Pekwane (Moshidi Motshegwa), who fears her husband has purchased a stolen car and wants to return it so she can be right with the Lord. Grace (Anika Noni Rose) assumes her new role as assistant detective with zeal.

8 P.M. (HGTV) LEADER OF THE PACK The Reckseit family believes its house just isn't a home without a dog, so it has set out to adopt one in this new series. Eight dogs will undergo a series of challenges to test their skills and compatibility with Milena and Peter Reckseit and their children, Stuart, Adam and Molly. Seven of the dogs will be taken in by other new families. One will eventually move in with the Reckseits.

9 P.M. (Discovery) CRASHES THAT CHANGED FLYING Where is Sully when you need him? Here is an entire series devoted to safety features that arose from the wreckage of air crashes caused by microbursts, ripped fuselages, exploding fuel tanks, accidental collisions and tire blowouts. 10 P.M. (AMC) BREAKING BAD Walt (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) hire a shady lawyer (Bob Odenkirk) after Badger (Matt Jones) has a run-in with the law. Hank (Dean Norris) returns, dazed and confused, to Albuquerque.
