VISAKHAPATNAM: The hearing of the 2018 attack case of YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was postponed to June 21 by the special designated court of NIA. Chief Minister Jagan Reddy’s advocates filed an extension petition in the case on Friday.
Accused Junupalli Srinivasa Rao was arrested for attacking Jagan Mohan Reddy at the lounge of Visakhapatnam airport in October 2018, just a few months before the general elections.Rao, from Thane Lanka in East Godavari district, was at the time working as a waiter in the airport restaurant. The accused first took a selfie with Jagan before suddenly attacking him with a small knife used in cockfights.
Jagan Mohan Reddy had filed a petition seeking further investigation into the case and the high Court gave six weeks stay. Accused Junupalli Srinivas’s lawyer Saleem requested the judge to punish CM Jagan Mohan Reddy under sections 228 of IPC as he filed a petition to avoid the court. The accused, who came out on bail recently, attended the court on Friday.
