Indian Americans excel in Bush Administration

WASHINGTON: Indian Americans have become movers and shakers in President George W Bush's administration and in the US Congress, with many of them holding important positions and being instrumental in shaping the national agenda.

WASHINGTON: Indian Americans have become movers and shakers in President George W Bush''s administration and in the US Congress, with many of them holding important positions and being instrumental in shaping the national agenda.
"Indian Americans are doing an outstanding job working in important positions and helping shape the national agenda...they are a generous people with a long tradition of service to one another, their communities and now, the nation," Indian American Republican Council which is chaired by R Vijayanagar said in a statement on Saturday.

Indians who have held important positions in the Bush administration and the Congress include Ash Jain - Attorney, Deputy Associate Director at the Office of Global Communications.
Jain previously worked as General Counsel to the National Capital Planning Commission and for US Senator Fred Thompson as Majority Counsel to the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, the first Indian American to serve in such a position.
Neil Patel is Staff Secretary to the Vice President and Assistant to the Vice President for Special Projects. He is the highest-ranking Indian American serving in any White House Administration.
Others included in the list are Karan Bhatia, Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Aviation and International Security, Uttam Dillon, Associate Deputy Attorney General for the US Department of Justice and Mala Krishnamoorti, Senior Legislative Officer in the Office of Congressional and Inter-governmental Affairs at the US Department of Labour.
