Fox would like to interest you in some Snake Oil this fall — and David Spade is here to explain to you just how that will happen.
Hosted/produced by Spade and executive-produced by LEGO Masters‘ own Will Arnett, Snake Oil finds its contestants being pitched unique products by convincing entrepreneurs – some of whom are showcasing real business ventures. Others, though, are “Snake Oil Salesmen” whose products are fake.
(So for you fellow Boomers out there, it’s kind of a bit The Liar’s Club, a li’l To Tell the Truth… meets, you know, Shark Tank.)
As Spade explains in the exclusive video above, the Snake Oil contestants — with the help of guest celebrity advisors such as Arnett, Ice-T, Michelle Williams, Adam DeVine, Christie Brinkley, Darius Rucker, Kandi Burruss, Natasha Leggerro, Bethenny Frankel and J.B. Smoove — must determine which products are real and which are a sham, all in a bid to win “life-changing money” (aka “almost a quarter-million dollars”).
Best of all, for those playing at home, Spade says that Snake Oil won’t bust your brain like, say Jeopardy! Rather, when watching Fox’s new “comedy game show… you might feel smart,” he says.
Fox’s Snake Oil premieres Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 9/8c, where it will lead out of The Masked Singer Season 10.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the future of broadcast television.
“it’s kind of a bit The Liar’s Club, a li’l To Tell the Truth…”
So maybe it’s the past, not the future.
No. Just no.
I’ll make the obvious joke:
If you choose to watch something with David Spade…
you should not feel smart!
I’m not a fan of either reality tv or David Spade, but I’ve seen the ads and it looks like fun. I’m going to give it a try.
I watched the pilot & have a question that cannot find an answer to-
Do the real companies, that contestants invest in, keep the invested money?
Watched 1st episode. Way too slow moving! Boring.
Terry G, with all due respect, your comment reads like an TV viewer that is always looking for the FAKE & BS-no substance to scripts & Etc.- Reality TV-action/fighting-killing & Etc. media crap. in that posted comment, I forgot to include that the process of evaluating real companies & investing in the ones one thinks are best is boring, by USA TV standards. I find it interesting, of course as I posted already I am trying to create get my inventions made into businesses. The changes I posted for Snake Oil would move it to still an interesting game show competition, from the crap that it is now.
What Shark Tank is & as Snake Oil is done now, there is no way in hell I would go on either show, because they are ways to take advantage of entrepreneurs & in case of Snake Oil insult & dumb down people’s opinions of “business experts”- celebrities have a huge built-in advantage, that gets them tons of investments to crash/bankrupt their companies, simply because they have influence on the public.
Do yall actually invest in the products?
