“Four Weddings and a Funeral” greeted Feb. 14’s announcement of Oscar nominations well-armed, having received 11 nominations to lead the list for the 1994 pic awards from the British Academy of Film & Television Arts.

The pic’s closest rivals are “Pulp Fiction” (nine noms) and “Forrest Gump” (eight).

BAFTA gave five nominations to Australia’s “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” and four to Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Red.”

Actor nominees are Hugh Grant (“Four Weddings”), Tom Hanks (“Forrest Gump”), Terence Stamp (“Priscilla”) and John Travolta (“Pulp Fiction”).

Linda Fiorentino will be vying for a best actress nod for “The Last Seduction,” even though the film was ruled ineligible for the Oscars. She’s nominated alongside Irene Jacob (“Red”), Susan Sarandon (“The Client”) and Uma Thurman (“Pulp Fiction”).

The only other British contenders are “Backbeat,” with two nominations – for its music (arranged by Don Was) and sound (by Chris Munro), “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein,” which is competing in the production design category, and “The Browning Version,” which received an adapted screenplay nom for Ronald Harwood.

The winners of the production and performance awards will be announced April 23, while the craft prizes will be doled out on March 26. Nominations for BAFTA TV awards will be announced March 6 and March 13.
