Chrysalis Award fete Abraham, Shepherd

Chair sez 'Their recognition is long overdue' in helping to create jobs

The Spirit of Chrysalis Awards dinner, to be held Sept. 28 at Universal Studios, will honor Beacon Communications’ president Marc Abraham and Chrysalis board member Colin Shepherd.

Founded in 1984 by John Dillon, Chrysalis is an organization whose mantra is to help the economically disadvantaged. The annual awards recognize those who have played leadership roles in the company’s efforts to create jobs.

“We are so honored to be able to pay tribute to these two individuals, Mr. Abraham and Mr. Shepherd, on such a special occasion for Chrysalis,” said Adlai Wertman, chairman of the Chrysalis board of directors. “Both gentlemen have demonstrated outstanding leadership and have gone beyond the call of duty to help those less fortunate. Their recognition is long overdue.”

Abraham formed Beacon in 1990 with Armyan Bernstein, the company’s chairman. Beacon’s pic include “The Commitments,” “Air Force One,” “A Thousand Acres,” “The Hurricane,” “End of Days” and “For Love of the Game.”
