Trio cast off for ‘Mermaid’ tale

Lange, Campbell, Wood 'Singing' praises

Jessica Lange, Neve Campbell and Evan Rachel Wood are attached to star in the Robin Swicord adaptation of “The Mermaids Singing,” which New Films Intl. has signed on to co-produce and license worldwide.

Pic is being produced by J. Todd Harris and Tim Daly, who acquired rights to Lisa Carey’s novel while they were partnered at Daly-Harris Prods. at Paramount.

Exec producing are Larry Weinberg and Don Schneider, Marc and Peter Samuelson and Nesim Hason, Sezin Sonar-Hason and Ron Gell. Craig Roth will co-produce.

Set on an enchanted Irish island, romantic tale chronicles three generations of women, each of whom struggles with first loves and wrenching decisions that change their lives.

New Films also is selling Sundance pic “November,” starring Courtney Cox, which Sony Pictures Classics picked up domestically; “Marie & Bruce,” which Julianne Moore produced and starred in with Matthew Broderick; and “Off the Map,” starring Joan Allen, which was in Cannes last year.
