Kevin Durand will join Corey Stoll in FX’s Guillermo del Toro-directed pilot “The Strain.”

Durand (“Fruitvale Station”) will reunite with former “Lost” exec producer Carlton Cuse, who will serve as showrunner on “The Strain.” The project is widely expected to receive a series order.

The actor will play a second-generation Ukranian-American, a once-solitary rat exterminator who eagerly joins the war against vampires who have invaded New York.

Stoll (“Midnight in Paris,” “House of Cards”) is playing the lead role in “The Strain,” which del Toro will direct from a script he co-adapted with author Chuck Hogan from their novel. Hogan and Gary Unger will also exec produce for FX Prods., with production beginning in September.

Durand is repped by WME, Alchemy Entertainment and attorney Dave Feldman.
