Square Sounds Goes Silent

Square has reaffirmed plans to dissolve their subsidiary 'Square Sounds' which handles the production of music soundtracks based on games and movies. Under the terms of the deal, Square Sounds will merge back into Square as an internal division. According to company representatives, the move is being made to cut costs and focus on Square's primary game development business. Square still plans to release soundtracks based on future games, though all associated production will be overseen internally. The merger is expected to be completed next week, though it's unknown whether Square Sounds' Meguro-ku, Tokyo based offices will be closed.
