Bourne and Kraatz have been skating together since 1991. They were the first ice dancers to include hydro
blading elements in their routines. Victor Kraatz was born in Berlin and grew up in Switzerland before moving
to Canada with his mother. Besides speaking German and English fluently, he also knows French. The team
was forced to miss the 2000 Four Continents and World Championships, because Bourne underwent knee
surgery. The couple changed coaches in the spring of 2000.
