The rankings are as of December 31, 2005, and were determined by a composite score taken by adding the heights of buildings and towers under varying standards (spires and towers counted less than actual floor space). Chicago remains the tallest city in the world.  In ranking, categories became apparent, thus the tiers. Due to a new city climbing its way into the top ten, Los Angeles is no longer featured on this page. For the 2005 update and other details, click on METHODOLOGY.
