Welcome
Welcome to the COMMAND100 website. 2007 marks the centenary of the first Inter Command Field Gun Competition, staged at the Royal Naval and Military Tournament at Olympia.
COMMAND100 was setup to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the first competition in 1907. COMMAND100 is the brainchild of Lieutenant Commander 'Grassy' Meadows, a former Field Gunner and Chairman of the Devonport Field Gun Association.
From its earliest days, the Inter Command Field Gun Competition was held in high regard by the general public as well as serving and former members of the Royal Navy. The competition went through a number of different formats between 1907 and 1950 however qualities of the Field Gunner remained the same: Strength, Stamina and above all Teamwork.
From 1950 until 1999, the Inter Command Field Gun Competition was the centrepiece of the Royal Tournament at Earls Court. The final competitive run was held on 2nd August 1999 at the last performance of the Royal Tournament.
COMMAND100 is a celebration of the Inter Command Field Gun Competition and the men that took part in the competition between 1907 and 1999.
