Casa de las Ratas Week 52
up to February 2, 2003
Hello Rat Fans. Sorry for the long spread between updates. Let's bring you
up to speed with what we did for the last few months during the end of
2002.
Seen here is the front entryway. The walls are textured and painted.
The floor has been floated ready for porcelain tile.
Bedroom number one is also all textured and painted.
Bedroom one with its finished cove ceiling.
Bedroom #2 is also all ready. |
The hall looking towards the front is also textured and painted.
Same with the living room.
Just after Christmas 2002, Ed the Tile Guy and his crew came
in to float the floors and commence tile installation.
Here's Ed the Tile Guy floating 3/4" drypack cement on
the dining room and kitchen floors.
First a layer of paper and chicken wire was nailed down to the subfloor.
Then the drypack is trowelled on.
Here's Ed finishing up the kitchen and dining room float.
Even the laundry room got floated.
The Rat Crew had prepped the walls in the bathrooms with green board
and wonder board. There is also 6 mil plastic sheeting behind the
wonderboard. |
Ed had all the right tools for cutting tile.
Here's the little tile score gizmo.
Ed got going quickly with the tiles. This is the first
bathroom tiles up on the walls and the drypack floated on the floor. The
tiles haven't been grouted yet in this picture.
Another view of bathroom #1.
Cool detailing in the first bathroom shower. Lots of shelves
for holding shampoo and stuff.
And soap dish...
Note stereo shower heads stubbed out.
The fixtures can be installed soon.
Ed and George grouting the first bathroom walls.
Here's the floor floated in the second bathroom.
Second bathroom has kept the vintage color scheme...
Bathroom #2 with its nifty diamond detail.
