Wrexham is more successful than the average UK town in creating new businesses according to Wrexham accountants UHY Hacker Young.
Their research also reveals that the town is twice as successful as Swansea with a total of eight new businesses set up in Wrexham per 10,000 adults each year. In comparison four are set up in Swansea and the UK average is just six.
Chester sees a total of 13 new businesses set up per 10,000 residents per year.
The researchers compared the number of VAT registrations against the number of VAT deregistrations to measure the net growth of new businesses within the UKs top fifty largest towns and cities.
Wrexham is the main commercial centre in North Wales and has been able to gain exposure to growth sectors such as new technologies. The town has become a hub for pharmaceutical and biomedical companies and has attracted new media companies.
