We are extraordinarily pleased and honored to announce the results of our just concluded auction of the Great Britain collection formed by William H. Gross. Expected to realize $4,000,000 to $5,000,000, with the entire proceeds to be donated to the internationally known charity Doctors Without Borders, the auction realized a staggering $9,136,000 – not including the 15% buyer’s premium ($10,506,400 total). At the conclusion of the auction, Bill and Sue Gross presented a check in the amount of $9,136,000 to Doctors Without Borders.

Record after record was broken at this amazing auction event, which is the highest grossing single stamp auction ever conducted in the United States – besting such benchmark sales as the famous Ishikawa U.S. Collection sold in 1993 and the Robert Zoellner U.S. Collection sold in 1998.

All of us at Shreves could not be more proud to have been associated with this magnificent collection and the spectacular results achieved for such a worthwhile charity. The amount of good that will come out of the Gross' donation is immeasurable.
