As Haitians line up to vote for a president, either former first lady Mirlande Manigat or former kompas music artist Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly, circulating media reports stating that one-time Haitian Presidential hopeful Wyclef Jean may have fabricated his gunshot wound story have left fans wondering what is going on with the former Fugees band member.

Haitian police chief, Vanel Lacroix, minimized the incident, saying the doctor who treated the music producer said Jean was "cut by glass", the Daily News reported.

Jean's sister, Melky Jean came out in support of her brother. According to ArtistDirect.com she told MTV News, "You can wound a man, but you can not stop a revolution. I pray for a peaceful election day. I pray that democracy is restored in Haiti, and there is an end to the violence and suffering."

Wyclef Jean, a North Caldwell resident, told media outlets a bullet grazed his hand in the hand as he stood outside of his vehicle to make a phone call late Sunday night. Jean, who was born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, added that he did not know if the alleged gunshots were directed towards him.

In August 2010, Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council rejected Jean’s bid for the Caribbean nation’s presidential candidacy because he did not meet the residency requirement of having lived in Haiti for five years before the November 28 election.

According to NME.com, Jean was discharged from the hospital and reportedly returned to the Haitian city of Petionville after the alleged shooting. He has not issued a statement in response to the police chief’s statement.
