Charlie Sheen eyes TV return in "Anger Management"

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap) - Charlie Sheen hopes to return to TV in a show based on the 2003 Adam Sandler-Jack Nicholson comedy "Anger Management" in which he would play a variation of Nicholson's character, TheWrap has confirmed.

Joe Roth's Revolution Studios, which produced the film, is in negotiations with Lionsgate Television on the project, a person close to the talks told TheWrap. No talks are yet underway with prospective networks or producers.

Sheen would play a counselor who helps patients deal with anger management in potentially infuriating ways.

He told TMZ, which first reported details of the project, "I'm gonna be involved in every aspect of it." He also divulged Roth's involvement and that the show would be an adaptation of a Roth-produced film with the initials "A.M."

Lionsgate declined comment.

The show would be Sheen's first full-time TV project since his firing from "Two and a Half Men," the CBS hit that made him the highest-paid actor on television at about $1.8 million per episode. Sheen was fired in March after a barrage of media interviews in which he talked about past drug use and repeatedly insulted show runner Chuck Lorre.

A Comedy Central roast of Sheen will air on Monday, September 19, the same night "Two and a Half Men" will return to CBS with Sheen's replacement, Ashton Kutcher.

At the same time I saw this article, I see the article about Elizabeth Smart moving ahead with her life. What a contrast in maturity between these two. If anyone has a right to be angry, she would. But, she's chosen to help others and not just line her own pockets

This story can't be for real. How many shows has Sheen now allegedly been "in negotiations" about? At least half a dozen since March. It seems every other week he's "close" to signing a deal, and then we hear nothing else about it. (Falls through? Stuck in negotiation limbo?) I think these CS puff pieces are just thrown in to fill up space, generate clicks and make ad $$$$. They appear to have little or no basis in reality.

All the producers would be more informed if they would just read all these comments.

Go ahead and put this on the air. Just one more show that I won't have to fit into my schedule.

Like they said and like he sued them--HE showed up for work--on time--knew his lines--never bothered his co-actors. Been watching some re-runs of 2and 1/2--he was a great comic foil. Let's see--Pryor, Kinison, Abbott,Costello,Lewis,Martin all had "demons" outside their little TV and movie screen bubble. But when it came to work--they showed up and did what was required. Tired and tired of the PC crap.

sounds like, once again, Sheen is shooting his mouth off to TMZ without actually having any actual backup--Much like all the other projects he's announced in the last six months. Even if there are any actual conversations going on (not counting the voices in Sheen's head) probably one of the requirements will be that Sheen will have to pee in a cup every hour on the hour with a witness lest he tries to go all Tom Sizemore on them.

I used to respect Lion's Gate but if they are really involved in producing a show starring CS, then I know they've gone to the Dark Side.

Why isn't he taking the next logical career move, having himself comitted to an asylum? Now that would make some sense.
