Global Consortium of Nazarene Graduate Seminaries and Schools of Theology
Wednesday, October 28, 2009
Manchester, England
E. LeBron Fairbanks, Church of the Nazarene education commissioner, convened the first meeting
of the Global Consortium of Nazarene Graduate Seminaries and Schools of
Theology in Manchester, England, on October 16-20. The event was hosted by Nazarene Theological College-Manchester (NTC-M) and included participation in NTC-M's annual commencement exercises. Those participating in the inaugural meeting of the consortium included representatives from:
Speaking of this inaugural meeting, Peter Rae (NTC-M) commented, "This was more than just a meeting of minds: it was a meeting of hearts and a sharing of passion and vision. It felt like our unique and individual stories became blended into a broader narrative of how God can use these institutions to serve His kingdom through the Church of the Nazarene around the world."
David McEwan (NTC, Australia) concurred, adding, "I particularly appreciated the sharing of strategies, ideas, and technologies that would enrich both our own school and the work of the consortium as a whole. I believe that as a result of meeting, we will be better equipped to serve the needs of our local community and the global marketplace in preparing men and women for the work of the ministry."
The consortium is funded by a three year grant from the Henry Luce Foundation awarded to Nazarene Theological Seminary. The next meeting is scheduled for November of 2010 on the campus of Korea Nazarene University in Chonan City, South Korea.
