FAI Ford Senior Cup

The oldest football competition in Ireland, the FAI Senior Cup is the Blue Riband event for clubs in Ireland. Clubs from the Airtricity League compete with junior and intermediate clubs in a competition that dates back to 1922.

The current holders of the competition are Derry City who beat St Patrick's Athletic 3-2 after extra-time in the final at the Aviva Stadium on November 4, 2012. Derry have now won the FAI Cup five times.

FAI Ford Cup Third Round Draw made

The draw for the Third Round of the FAI Ford Cup took place this evening on the RTE Two programme MNS and was made by FAI President Paddy McCaul and Republic of Ireland U19 team manager Paul Doolin. The eight ties are due to be played on the week-end of August 25th. There is still one outstanding second round tie between Cork City and Kilbarrack United and this will be played on August 5. The draw is: FAI Ford Cup Third RoundBluebell United v Derry CityBray Wanderers v St Patrick's AthleticDundalk v LimerickFinn Harps v Cobh RamblersLongford Town v Drogheda UnitedShamrock Rovers v Sheriff YCShelbourne v College CorinthiansSligo Rovers v Cork City or Kilbarrack United. Ties to be played on weekend of August 25.  

Athlone knocked out by Bluebell

Athlone Town 2 Bluebell United 3 (After extra-time) Trevor Molloy rolled back the years to score twice and then set up an extra-time winner as non-league Bluebell United caused the shock of the FAI Ford Cup Second Round.

Athlone and Bluebell meet in FAI Ford Cup replay

Athlone Town and Bluebell United meet on Tuesday night at Athlone Town Stadium in an FAI Ford Cup Second Round Replay. Kick-off is 7.45pm with extra-time and penalties if required.

Twelve sides through to FAI Ford Cup Third Round

Twelve teams have booked their places in the Third Round of the FAI Ford Cup including holders Derry City and last year's runners-up St Patrick's Athletic.
