Artisan adds to Showtime deal.
Showtime Networks Inc. has extended its long-term output licensing deal with Artisan Pictures for another three years.
The current deal -- which allows Showtime to premiere theatrical films from Artisan on the premium network -- was due to expire at the end of next year.
Aside from Showtime's sister studio Paramount Pictures, Artisan will now become one of the dominant suppliers of movies to Showtime along with MGM, which is locked into Showtime through 2003, and PolyGram, which is committed to Showtime through 2001. Dimension Films is also a supplier to the network through 2002.
