Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera have turned their friendly rivalry on NBC's The Voice into some studio chemistry for Maroon 5’s latest single “Moves Like Jagger,” which hit the blogosphere prematurely on Tuesday morning.
Atop a looping whistle and guitar strings, Levine boasts, brags and tries his best to impress his female interest on this upbeat tune, even comparing his dance moves to Rolling Stones icon Mick Jagger. While we here at the MTV Newsroom aren’t too confident in the pop/rock singer’s dance floor skills, we must admit he is believable enough as he croons to the irresistible hook – “Take me by the tongue / And I'll know you/ Kiss til you're drunk / And I'll show you / You want the moves like Jagger / I got the moves like Jagger/ I got the moves like Jagger.”
Aguilera pops ups mid-way through the bouncy song’s bridge and plays up her role as a tease. “You want to know how to make me smile / Take control, own me just for the night / But if I share my secret / You gonna have to keep it / Nobody else can see this,” she sings before offering up her signature soaring vocals.
Recorded in Los Angeles in May, “Moves Like Jagger” sounds like it may be a contender for 2011’s song of the summer and is expected to be added to Maroon 5’s forthcoming tour set list. Fans of the star-studded duet didn't have to wait long to hear the duo perform the song either. X-tina and the Maroon 5 frontman performed the track for the very first time on last night’s episode of The Voice.
