AFC faculty services are applicable to:

AFC faculty services include:

  • Scheduling of video loans for classroom use.
      • Use the scheduled loan request form here.
  • Placing of holds for pickup of audio loans.
      • Sign in to your library account and request the hold through Bobcat.
  • Walk-in loans of video and audio recordings.
  • Course reserves.

  • Scheduled group video viewings in our facility for students in your course.

  • Assistance in preparing and placing audio and video materials into Blackboard.
  • Reference and research assistance with our collections.

AFC CIRCULATION POLICIES FOR FACULTY


Non-Reserve DVDs and Videotapes:

  • Loan period: One week (Day of checkout plus 7 days).
      • A prior intersecting reservation by another borrower will automatically adjust your loan to less than seven days.
  • Limit of five videos per person at one time.
  • Scheduling the loan in advance is recommended to ensure availability.
  • Videos must be returned and checked in at the AFC service counter.
  • Videos that have not been requested or reserved by other borrowers may be renewed in person at the AFC service counter on or before the original due date.
      • (To avoid conflicts with the online loan reservation service, renewals cannot be performed online but must be done in person at the AFC service counter).
  • Courtesy email notice sent the day before the due date, then daily after an item is overdue.
  • Late fee: $5 per day per item, up to a maximum of $50 per item.
  • Lost/replacement fee: Cost of replacement + $30 processing fee.

Reserve DVDs and Videotapes:

  • Loan period: 6 hours for classroom use.
  • Limit of 5 videos per person at one time.
  • Scheduling the loan in advance is recommended to ensure availability.
  • Videos must be returned and checked in at the AFC service counter.
  • Courtesy email notice sent daily after an item is overdue.
  • Late fee: $5 per hour per item for reserves, up to a maximum of $50.00 per item.

Non-Reserve CDs:

  • Loan period: One week (Day of checkout plus 7 days).
  • Limit of 5 audio recordings per person at one time, with reasonable exceptions for multi-disc sets and special circumstances.
  • Online hold request is recommended to ensure availability.
      • Sign in to your library account and request the hold through Bobcat
  • CDs must be returned and checked in at the AFC service counter.
  • Courtesy email notice sent the day before the due date, then daily after an item is overdue.
  • Late fee: $1 per day per item, up to a maximum of $50 per item.
  • Lost/replacement fee: Cost of replacement + $30 processing fee.

Reserve CDS:

  • Loan period: 6 hours for classroom use.
  • Limit of 5 audio recordings per person at one time, with reasonable exceptions for multi-disc sets and special circumstances.
  • CDs must be returned and checked in at the AFC service counter.
  • Late fee: $5 per hour per item for reserves, up to a maximum of $50 per item.
  • Lost/replacement fee: Cost of replacement + $30 processing fee.

LP (Vinyl) Discs:

  • Must be requested in advance from offsite storage.
  • Inquire at the service counter.
  • Same loan and fee policies as reserve and non-reserve CDs.

Reserve Books and Scores:

  • Loan period: 2 hours or until AFC closing time on the day of checkout, whichever is sooner, with reasonable extensions for special circumstances.
  • Limit of 2 items per person at one time, with reasonable extensions for special circumstances.
  • Must be returned and checked in at the AFC service counter.
  • Late fee: $5 per hour per item, up to a maximum of $50 per item.
  • Lost/replacement fee: Cost of replacement + $30 processing fee.

Closed Stacks Books and Scores:

  • Loan period: 2 hours or until AFC closing time on the day of checkout, whichever is sooner, with reasonable extensions for special circumstances.
  • Limit of 2 items per person at one time, with reasonable exceptions for special circumstances.
  • Late fee: $5 per hour per item, up to a maximum of $50 per item.
  • Lost/replacement fee: Cost of replacement + $30 processing fee.

Professor's Personal Copies on Reserve:

  • Only the owner or the owner's registered additional borrower may remove a personal copy from the library.
  • No loan limits to the owner or additional borrower, but items kept out of the library for more than one week will go off reserve and will need to be resubmitted for reserve processing.
  • All other borrowers limited to use within the library, with loan limits and fees the same as reserve video, audio, books, and scores as above.

Scores from Floor 2 Stacks marked "Library Use Only" or "Non-Circulating":

  • Music faculty and music graduate students may check these out for up to one week.
  • Checkout Procedure:
    1. Take the item(s) to the AFC service counter.
    2. Identify yourself as music faculty or music student.
    3. Ask for and fill out a "special-loan" form (a separate form required for each item).
    4. Proceed with the form to the main circulation desk on the ground floor to check out the material with your ID card.

Digital Studio Projects:

  • Faculty borrowers may take AFC materials to the Bobst Digital Studio in connection with their work on course-related multimedia projects.
  • Prior to checking out the materials from the AFC, the borrower should make an appointment with the Studio with the online form or by phone at 212-992-9233
  • Complete and sign the loan form at the AFC service counter.
  • When finished in the Studio, return the material to the AFC service counter.
