Hikaru Utada Sings Kingdom Hearts Theme

This means nothing to most of you, but Japan is completely nuts for this girl. Go figure.

Square and record label Toshiba EMI have announced that the theme song to Kingdom Hearts, Square's upcoming Disney-tinged action-RPG, will be provided by mega-popular Japanese idol singer Hikaru Utada. Hikki, as she's called by her fans, has racked up more than one multi-platinum release in Asia over the last few years, and dedicated TV viewers might recall her hit single "Automatic" from a few commercials during the late '90s.

The song is entitled "Hikari," meaning "light" in Japanese, and will be released as a CD single in Japan on March 20, at a price of 1100 yen. Apparently, an English-language version of the track is also being prepared for the American version of the game.
