Maroon5 Tapped For Honda Civic Tour

Maroon5 will headline the fifth-annual Honda Civic Tour, kicking off March 11 in Los Angeles. Phantom Planet will open the first two shows, with the Donnas taking over March 18 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and staying on board through an April 14 stop in Detroit. The Thrills will join the tour April 15 in Pittsburgh and ride it through to its May 11 conclusion in Phoenix.

Environmental concerns apparently played a part in Maroon5's decision to sign on to this tour, which has in the past been headlined by Blink-182, Everclear, Incubus, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory and Dashboard Confessional.

"Honda has been such a trendsetter in producing environmentally friendly cars that we jumped at the chance to be involved with them on this tour," Maroon5 singer/guitarist Adam Levine says.

The partnership includes to a Civic Tour-branded page added to Maroon5's Web site, which features links to environmental organizations such as the Sierra Club, Greenpeace and Earth Share. Additionally, a Honda Civic Hybrid and a Honda Civic Coupe customized by the band will be showcased at tour venues and be given away via a sweepstakes.

Among the notable dates on the itinerary is an April 25 stop in Lincoln, Neb., the hometown of Maroon5 guitarist James Valentine.

Tickets for the shows go on sale Feb. 5 to the public via Ticketmaster. The Civic Tour Web site offers a pre-sale password for early access to seats tickets.

Maroon5 will be continuing its touring efforts in support of 2002's "Songs about Jane," which peaked in September 2004 at No. 6 on The Billboard 200. The set features the single ""This Love," which reached No. 5 on Billboard's Hot 100, as well as the hits "She Will Be Loved" (No. 5), "Harder To Breathe" (No. 18) and "Sunday Morning" (No. 47).

Last week, Maroon5 was forced to cancel a concert in Spain so that Levine could tend to "a serious family issue," but plans to reschedule the show. The band also pulled out of an appearance at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes where Maroon5 won the best international newcomer honor and best international single award for "This Love."

In addition to the Honda Civic tour, Maroon5 will headline a pair of Texas rodeos on March 15 at Austin's Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo and March 16's RodeoHouston. Prior to hitting the road, the band will perform Feb. 4 on NBC's "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" and the following day on the network's "Today" morning show.

As previously reported, the band is hoping to hit the studio by spring to begin work on a new album, although the new songs "Can't Stop" and "Wasted Years" have recently been appearing in live sets.
