I would love a chance to compete on America’s Next Top Model for a few reasons. First, I have been told my whole life that I should try out for modeling. However, my initial interest did not come until I started watching the show. The contestants earn an opportunity of a lifetime. Not only are they given modeling opportunities, they learn life lessons and learn things about themselves. These things are useful far beyond the catwalk and photo shoot set. I currently work as a substitute teacher at Gleamns Outreach, which is a preschool for underprivileged children in a small town in South Carolina. Hi my name is Yamilet Torres, Im not sure if its to late but Ive always had a passion for modeling. I always wanted to do it but never managed to convince mom to help me accomplish being a model as a kid. I mean we didnt have enough money for traveling and my father was always to busy working. When I finally entered high school I began thinking about how ill finally be 18yrs old so I’d finally be able to make my dream come true. I started off at age 17yrs old, I went to modeling school and worked two jobs in high school to pay for this modeling school hoping that I would have an opportunity to be noticed and little by little work my way up. I was noticed at the time by nine agency’s but I was still 17yrs old almost 18yrs old. I had to beg my dad to just believe in me and help me pursue my dream but I had no choice but to walk away from the agencies because I was still under age and I needed guardian support and approval to be apart of an agency. I felt as though my world came crushing down. I finally then turn 18yrs old and I tried working on my portfolio, I had to also work a full time job as soon as I graduated while I then went to college partime. I turn 19 and then 20yrs old and I work on my portfolio and then stop which I had also met this loving guy at the same time. Im now 21yrs old, I have a baby whos almost four months and now and I realize that things will be harder and I deeply believe that this is not the end for me. Im young, caring and loving. I have this precious little one who will be looking up to mommy and I want him to learn that mom still went to school and is still going to school as hard as it may be to become a pharmacy tech because im only a clerk now to then continue going to school in the future to one day become a pharmacist. But what I have learned is that anythings possible. I want my little one to learn that mom loved modeling always!
