In 1930, four gangsters are being lead by Albert McCann, who has been "taking dope since he was ten." The four men cut their arms and take a blood oath of solidarity. The gang robs and kills until one of them is wounded and murdered by his fellow criminals. Gangbusters Clues: The killer of Charles F. Keen who had been stabbed through the neck. A nineteen year-old man: wanted for a payroll robbery in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lonnie Jackson: an escaped convict with a tattoo on his inner wrist and forearm, a scar on his nose. He's wanted for the murder of Dr. H. R. Townsend; who was shot in the back and dumped into the Mississippi river. An Indiana bandit in a stolen 1937 Ford sedan. The search for the man with a hole in his hand is only the start of a personal war against crime by a very determined cop. Mrs. B. Fascinating listening; this is a docu/drama, not the story of an individual criminal. Gangbusters Nationwide Clues: a kidnapper with dark, bushy hair is sought. He has a large head with protruding teeth. In Lockport, Illinois: a man has been found hanged, his identity unknown. Harry Clifford Campbell: an escaped convict with tattoos on both arms. Phillips H. An athletic collegiate turns to robbery and murder for a career. "Gangbusters Nationwide Clues." Charles Duffield (escaped convict): tattoo of the the word "Chief" on left arm, tattoo of heart-dagger-bird-ribbon on right arm. Attention Western states: a man with dark bushy hair (wanted for robbery, beating of woman). Attention Pacific coast: Bank robber wanted. The spelling of the program name is open to debate. Original literature in the 1930's spells the program name as two words. By at least 1953, the program was spelled as one word. When the changeover occurred is uncertain. Two small-timers (Rogers and Charleson), and their moll, terrorize Chattanooga and think they can get away with it because they only rob small amounts. "Gangbusters Nationwide Clues." Murderer: with wrinkle-faced companion. Attention Pennsylvania: farmer wanted for nude slaying. . 29:54. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Complete.

8751. Gangbusters. April 4, 1941. Program #232. Blue Network. "The Case Of The Missing Corpse". Sponsored by: Sloan's Liniment. Two bullets in the head fail to discourage a determined Negro witness (Louis Baker) to a bombing. Last minute police bulletin: watch for Clifford Davidson, escaped convict, Oklahoma. "Gangbusters Nationwide Clues." Attention Southwest: Negro wanted for murder. Black, kinky hair, left eye punctured and may be out, three razor slashes on left shoulder. Attention New England: James Joseph Horan, J.J.H. tattoed on right arm, large ears, eye crossed. He's wanted for bank robbery. The program leaves the air after this broadcast until October 10, 1941. 50594. Gangbusters. March 13, 1942. Program #255. Blue Network. "The Esposito Brothers: Mad Dogs Of Crime". Sponsored by: Sloan's Liniment. The two brothers run amok in New York City. Narrated by Colonel Schwarzkopf by proxy. The program includes "Gangbusters Nationwide Clues." The crimes by Anthony and William Esposito were commited on January 14, 1941, their trial was held in May, 1941. The jury convicted them in one minute (!) and the brothers were executed March 12, 1942, the day before this broadcast. The system cue has been deleted. "The gay young southern killer who wed two weapons...a machine gun and a clarinet." The story of a musical bank robber. Gangbusters Nationwide Clues have been deleted. A ghostly prisoner walks the countryside unrecognized. The story of, "The Trailer Gang." "Gangbusters Nationwide Clues." Basil Hugh Banghart (alias "The Owl"): hair comes to arrow point, bald left and right front, wrinkles across forehead, scar on right side of chin, mole on left cheek, eyes have owl-like appearance. Roger Touhy: hawk-like nose turns to left, mole below nose, permanent lump on left side of neck, lower lip turns under, amputed right thumb-tip. Matthew Nelson: scar right forehead, protruding chin. James O'Connor: gunshot wound on left elbow, stiff left arm. A three fingered safe-cracker is finally brought to justice in Spokane, Washington. Gangbuster's Nationwide Clues: a thirty-three year old Negro, knock-kneed (wanted for murder, no name given), a twenty year old (wanted for assault, no name given): both little fingers crooked, may wear gloves to hide the fact. "Iron Mouth": (assault to commit murder): Mexican, receding forehead, heavy jaw, scar corner left eyebrow, scar on both arms between shoulder and elbow, two upper teeth missing or filled with gold crowns. The story of a beautiful and wild young girl and the ultimate trouble she found herself in. 49788. Gangbusters. June 9, 1944. Program #369. Blue Network. "The Case Of The Unknown Killers". Sponsored by: Sloan's Liniment, Nonspi deodorant. The story of "The Broadway and Coney Island Murders." A cop is killed in Coney Island during a holdup. This leads to an exciting shoot-out in a hotel. "Gangbusters Nationwide Clues" follow the story. Fred William Poole: murderer, upper and lower front teeth missing, walks with head down, has two machine guns. Ralph Williams: escaped convict, scar left side forehead, "L.O.V.E." tattoed on four fingers, "1935 O'Donnell" tattoed on forearm. Narrated by "Colonel Schwarzkopf" (by proxy). The first appearance of Lewis J. Valentine as narrator. He had resigned as the police commissioner of New York City the day before. "Red" is an army deserter with a quick trigger finger. Red is caught because of a trick with two women drivers. Gangbusters Nationwide Clues: an $8500 reward is offered for the return of a two year old baby. The kidnapper in Dayton, Ohio, is named Mary Willkie. In Denver: a man is wanted for the murder of Andrew Silvers. There is a bloodstain on his sleeve where he was shot. Phillips H. The gang commits a series of crimes for Juanita, who wanted a red dress very much. Aljo, chief of the Washingston State Patrol, narrates-by-proxy the story of two gangsters named Jennings and Windmayer who rob, kill and escape into the hills of Washington. Don MacGlaughlin appears to promote his program, "David Harding, Counterspy." Gangbusters Nationwide Clues: Meyer Dembin and Harry Landinsky are wanted for bank robbery. Dembinky has a scar on his right cheekbone, a mole on his chin. Landinsky has a sallow complexion and a mole on his nose. Edward Peter Tucker is wanted for auto theft. A burglar enlists a newly-released convict to help him commit more crimes in Garden City, New York. The case is announced as continued next week, but the Lewis J. David McIntire plans to grab the factory's paymaster (Julius Siegal) in The Bronx and rob the safe in New Jersey. Johnny Jay, the loan shark, wants his $280. WRVR rebroadcast date: January 15, 1973. The real Julius Siegel is a guest on the program after the end of the story. The program was considered the program #500 of the series, it may only have been program #497.
