The show’s main characters, whose ethnicities are still to be determined, will include:

* Harper Duval: A 16-year-old beauty “who’s a little too introverted and intellectual to be a social butterfly” but has nevertheless been annointed by the popular crowd to be one of their own. “She feels guilty that she has drifted away from former best friend Audrey,” but at least she’s got a Gilmore Girls-esque relationship with mom Maggie to keep her sane.

* Audrey Jesen: Haper’s former BFF is described as “the bi-curious daughter of a Lutheran pastor” who’s “more arresting-looking than pretty.” This “artsy loner” dreams of being a filmmaker and shares a close bond with tech genius Noah.

* Noah Foster: Audrey’s closest confidante is “creative, brilliant and tech-savvy enough to be the next Steve Jobs.” Lucky for him, he’s got a great sense of humor (“a la John Cusack in his teen prime”) that helps him navigate the halls of his high school. What’s more, Noah possesses “an encyclopedic knowledge of books, films, TV, apps, etc.”

* Margaret “Maggie” Duval: Harper’s mom, in her early to mid-40s, is the town’s medical examiner, “a grown-up science geek who plays down her beauty.” Maggie spends a lot of her time trying to make up for the fact that Harper’s dad abandoned them. Oh, and she’s harboring “a dark secret from her past.”

  1. I’ve been looking forward to the Scream show since I first heard about it a couple years ago. But honestly, I don’t know how it’s going to go. It could be a good show and actually last a whole season or, better yet, get picked up for a second (somehow)…or it could flop because Scream to me is a classic that no show could ever do justice. So we’ll see. Hopefully they won’t ruin it.

  2. Jess says:

I don’t know how they’re going to pull this off as a tv series. Maybe they should go the American Horror Story route and have a setting and story each season so they don’t drag out who the killer is, etc. Plus that way you can kill off main characters easier.

  3. DL says:

This would make a great pairing with Teen Wolf. While it seems unlikely to me that Scream would air earlier than 10 PM, or that they’d bump Teen Wolf to a 9 PM slot, it could be a great way for the shows to build on each other’s audiences. Guess we’ll see!
Also, any news on when this is supposed to hit the airwaves, if it’s ordered to series?

  4. dude says:

I’ve been interested to see how they’re going to do this but the fact this comes from one of the writers of Ravenswood doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. I’m hoping this show is just as self-aware and witty as the movies but honestly, it sounds like a teen drama with serial killers.

  5. Kaycee says:

I’m praying that they’ve taken out the “supernatural” element they wanted to add, it takes away from what was great about Scream.

  6. johnhelvete says:

any intel on when Finding Carter will air?

  7. kaci says:

Anyone else notice that all three descriptions of female characters make reference to their looks, while the male character has literally no physical description, only of his personality? -_-

  8. S. says:

Toni Collette, Laurie Holden, Elizabeth Berkley, Denise Richards (if they cancel Twisted, which I’m sure they will), Christina Applegate, or Christina Taylor for the mom please.

  9. Till says:

I predict Noah is Ghostface :)

  10. S. says:

Will Poulter, Cameron Bright, or Connor Jessup for Noah.

  11. alistaircrane says:

I am a little perturbed that they aren’t using the movie characters (Sidney, Gale, Dewey, etc.), but now there’s a chance Neve Campbell or Courteney Cox or David Arquette could reprise their roles in an episode down the line.

  12. S. says:

Can we please cast 17-22 year olds as the teens? Nobody older please.

    • bj says:

Good luck with that wish. Look at The 100. I think there might be one “teenager” who’s under 25. Most of the rest are closer to 30.

    • Why does it matter? It’s not about their age. It’s about how they APPEAR. A lot people look younger than they are these days. Esp. if you take care of your body. Most actors age well.

  13. Robert says:

From reading the summary and the characters description, I do not see the connection to the Scream movies. One commenter above said they hope the supernatural element is not involve but I hope it is, since they are talking about the town having a dark history.

    • C says:

The dark history could simply refer to the previous murder sprees if the town this is taking place in is Woodsboro. The one teen’s mom might tie back to Sidney, Gale, Dewey, etc. somehow.

      • alistaircrane says:

I hope it’s set in Woodsboro and takes place following Scream 4, David Arquette could recur as Dewey since he’s the town sheriff.

      • Robert says:

Somehow I doubt it would be taking place in Woodsboro, the murders received international coverage from the media and Sidney ‘ S book. So there is no way it will talk place in Woodsboro because their dark history is known to the world.

  14. Arie says:

No. Keep AnaSophia Robb and her bad acting away from this project!

  15. TVMAN says:

Really liked Harpers Island. Been waiting for a killer TV horror type show to come on TV again. Hope they don’t ruin this show, this being MTV and all..

  16. Aleana says:

    India Eisley as Harper
    Mackenzie Rosman as Audrey
    Dylan Everett as Noah
    Mia Kirshner as Maggie
    or
    AnnaSophia Robb as Harper
    Annie Clark as Audrey
    Adam Hicks as Noah
    Megyn Price as Maggie
    or
    Elizabeth Gillies as Harper
    Renee Olstead as Audrey
    Matt Bennett as Noah
    Constance Zimmer as Maggie

  17. Try Again says:

Gage Golightly from Teen Wolf for Harper.
Brendan Dooling from The Carrie Diaries for Noah.

  18. alistaircrane says:

In order to pull this off, they have to have a murder an episode, Harper’s Island-style. At least for the first season.

  19. Thilia says:

Saw this, penned by Jill Blotevogel (Ravenswood, Harper’s Island, Eureka), and knew the show is already doomed.

  20. uk-usa-tvaddict says:

If this show was an anthology like American Horror Story this project might seem more interesting.

  21. Hussain H. says:

    Reblogged this on Entertainment News.

  22. Fabe says:

Any news on the Shannara project?

  23. Fernanda says:

Big no no Big no no

  24. DavidSask says:

I agree with commenters on here that say this may work only if its done miniseries format and changes yearly!

  25. Derek Johnson says:

Okay hate to play spoiler here, but Ghostface will be Audrey’s father, a Lutheran pastor who is crazy, because Hollywood is full of close-minded Fascists whose blind hatred of Christians and Orthodox Jews boils over.

  26. are they allowing online auditions because i would be very interested in playing the part of noah

  27. Mikael says:

Sounds like it could be like Bates Motel in that they live in a town that has a serious dark side. I don’t see how this could last for multiple seasons before people get tired of not knowing who the killer is.

    • alistaircrane says:

There could be a new killer every season, much like how Sidney was tormented by a new killer(s) in each film.

  28. Maryann says:

It’s hard to believe the writer for this was behind Ravenswood and Harper’s Ferry both. I just hope that it follows in the vein of Ravenswood rather than Harper’s Ferry. Harper’s Ferry left me totally wanting to throw up/wanting the hours back I had spent watching it. The problem was that the character development was not consistent. It was as if the killer was arbitrarily chosen out of the blue at the end with no preplanning. We should have been able to look back at their behavior and see the clues that at least *something* was off about them before they were revealed as being totally crazy. It didn’t come off as a plot twist. It was just poor writing.

  29. Iris Collier says:

I would love to audition for this show. My friends and I grew up w/ the Scream movies.

  30. Jessica says:

I’m so excited for this! I grew up watching the movies. Hopefully we’ll get more casting call news for the people that want to try out! I would live to audition for Harper or Audrey.

  31. James says:

ME! I should be an actor on the show haha. But really I’m 16 and ready!

  32. Heather L says:

I think this would be awesome. It is so perfect for Mtv they did great with teen wolf. i can see a pretty little liars vibe. I would love to see Krista Allen as the mom role. She is so funny and also most people love her so we get that gilmore girls thing. she’d be great!! I want her to be my mom!! LOL

  33. Tony says:

This stupid all these same horror tv shows, they just take all the horror out of horror movies and turn then them into crappy soap-opera type shows, I WANTED THEM TO DO SCREAM 5 & SCREAM 6 MOVIES ARE SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!
