Time Is Running Out for Half-a-Dozen Animated Disney Classics

15 Jan, 2004 By: Holly J. Wagner

The clock is ticking for six classic animated titles from Buena Vista Home Entertainment.

Following an established Disney pattern, the studio's home entertainment arm Jan. 31 will put on moratorium the titles Sleeping Beauty Special Edition (DVD and VHS), Fantasia (DVD only), Fantasia 2000 (DVD and VHS), the Fantasia Anthology (three-disc DVD set), Lady & The Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure (DVD and VHS), 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure (DVD and VHS) and Jungle Book 2 (DVD and VHS).

Disney typically holds back moratorium titles for several years before re-releasing them, with considerable fanfare, to a new generation of viewers. The studio promotes the suspension to the public via TV and POP materials to encourage a flurry of sales before the titles go on hiatus to the vault.
