Q47 and Q49 Revise Route in Jackson Heights Q45 and Q47 Routes Combine

Beginning Sunday, September 4, the southbound route of the MTA Buses Q47 and Q49 will be revised in Jackson Heights and Q45 and Q47 bus routes will be combined into one route.

The NYC Department of Transportation, with the participation of MTA Bus, conducted the Jackson Heights Neighborhood Transportation Study over the past two and a half years.  The study looked at traffic congestion, pedestrian and vehicular safety, parking and transit movement with the goal of improving mobility within the area. Based on their study, NYCDOT has implemented traffic direction changes and street closures and other elements affecting traffic and parking. MTA Bus routes Q45, Q47 and Q49 will be affected by these changes.

The Q47 and Q49 will operate on 75th Street from 35th Avenue to access the 74th Street Bus Terminal instead of the previous use of 73rd Street to 37th Road and 75th Street. This is to accommodate the closure of 37th Road between 73rd and 74th Streets. A direct transfer to the E F M R and 7 subways will be maintained.

In addition, the Q45 and Q47 will be combined into one route operating north-south connecting LaGuardia Airport's Marine Air Terminal and northern Jackson Heights with Middle Village and the Atlas Park Mall in Glendale. The combined route will be labeled the Q47. All current Q45 and Q47 bus stops (with the exception of the southbound change previously stated) will be served by the Q47, and service frequency and hours of service will generally be unchanged.
