Welcome to Del Sur!

Mission Statement

Del Sur School is a learning community that nurtures and celebrates excellence. Del Sur School fosters a positive collaborative culture and learning community where students are expected to master the California State Standards. Success is measured through continuous multiple assessments, evaluation of the assessment data, and reflective dialogue among our professional colleagues leading to the refinement of research based teaching strategies and interventions to reach all learners. Our students are accountable for the opportunities that they are provided to master the curriculum and are encouraged to feel safe enough to risk, grow, and achieve success as an educated, responsible, and caring member of society.

Message From the Principal

I am so pleased to welcome you to Del Sur K-8 School, home of the Dragons. Del Sur is a school where great things are happening each and every day.

At Del Sur School, our positive school environment provides students an opportunity to succeed academically as well as foster opportunities to become connected to their school and their learning. We utilize a program called FastForWord to offer reading and comprehension interventions to our students. Our strong AVID program continues to grow as we now have teachers trained at all grade levels from kindergarten through 8th grade. We are bringing Project Lead the Way to our campus and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Wednesdays.  Students and staff will utilize technology to learn, teach and explore many curricular areas. We believe strongly in creating opportunities for students to critically think and problem solve. Our Vice Principal this year is Jacob Briggs.  He is excited to join the Del Sur team. Judi Hynan will return as our school counselor. We are looking forward to a fantastic and productive school year.

Del Sur is a great school because of the partnerships between our teachers, staff members, parents, and the community. I look forward to your continued involvement in your child’s education and your participation in school events throughout the school year. It is our goal to strengthen the home-school relationship. Parents have an open invitation to volunteer in, to participate in, and to share in the setting and achievement of our student’s goals for our children through school site council and the PTSA.

Our PTSA is a wonderful asset to our site by providing both their time and hard work as well as funding for our classrooms. Please join this group as our kids all benefit!

Attendance is so important at Del Sur. Students must be present to learn. If your student is absent, please make sure to clear the absence within 4 days.

Again, welcome to Del Sur. We are looking forward to an amazing 2015-2016 year!

Jessica Kott, Principal
