On Thursday (Sept. 8), Justin Timberlake and childhood friend-turned-business partner Trace Ayala shared a four-minute visual filmed in their hometown of Memphis discussing the re-launch of their clothing label William Rast and the line’s Southern roots.

The “Can’t Stop the Feeling” singer and Ayala started the company back in 2005 -- first as a denim line named after their grandfathers and later evolving into a men’s and women’s clothing line.

“It’s gotta be a little bit country and it’s gotta be a little bit rock 'n' roll at the same time,” Timberlake says of the company’s “old Hollywood”-meets-Southern design aesthetic.

Since his solo career began with the 2002 release of debut album Justified, Timberlake has honed his unique sense of style and cites fellow Southern gentlemen like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, along with Frank Sinatra, as style influences. “Guys who were just really never trying to be that [stylish], they just were that,” he explained in the video.
