A 'Deadpool' Sequel Might Already Be In The Works

Wade Wilson approves.

"Deadpool" might have excited audiences at Comic-Con so much that they aired the trailer twice, but the movie's still not done yet and won't be ready until February. Still, 20th Century Fox is feeling pret-ty dang good about its chances at the box office -- so much so that they're apparently already discussing sequel plans.

While speaking to Collider at the Toronto International Film Festival, producer Simon Kinberg revealed that the idea of a "Deadpool" sequel is something the studio has definitely already talked about. But that's par for the course when it comes to adapting a huge medium like comics.

"We were talking about the sequel while we were making the movie, just because when you make a film like this that’s from a serialized source material, you hope that it’s the first of many, and we still hope that," he said. "We still have work to do on the movie because it obviously doesn't come out for many months, But yeah, they're feeling good about it, we’re all feeling really proud of it. So hopefully before it comes out, we will be well into the process of figuring out a sequel.”

Part of that, he says, could possibly involve the iconic comic book character Cable, another "X-Men" character (to make a convoluted story short, he's the son of Cyclops who was raised to adulthood in an alternate dystopian future. "X-Men," am I right?) who's often been paired off with Deadpool in the comics.

"[Cable is] a character that I’ve always wanted to do in one form or another," Kinberg said. "We talked about Cable actually in 'Days of Future Past' at one point. But yeah, we’re in such the early stages of sequel talk, it would be genuinely premature for me to say whether or not he was gonna be in it.”

Good news for "Cable & Deadpool" fans -- maybe not so much for Cable himself. Deadpool's a difficult person to live with, after all.
