She becomes president of international TV and digital as Lionsgate continues to pursue full cross-platform digital exploitation of studio content.

As a steadily diversifying Lionsgate continues to bolster its VOD, subscription VOD and digital divisions, Agapy Kapouranis has been promoted, just as Lionsgate international TV exec Peter Iacono exits the Hollywood studio.

Kapouranis becomes president of international television and digital distribution as she succeeds Iacono, who is to leave Lionsgate to become CEO of TravelCadabra. Kapouranis in 2016 was upped to the newly created position of executive vp global subscription video on demand, as Lionsgate looked to license more content to streaming services worldwide.

Reporting to Lionsgate president of worldwide television and digital distribution Jim Packer, Kapouranis will continue to grow the studio's digital and VOD markets internationally as Lionsgate takes advantage of proliferating digital platforms to move beyond the theatrical film and TV arenas for additional revenues.

"Having an executive with experience in all forms of global distribution such as Agapy gives Lionsgate an advantage as we continue to navigate a dynamic and fast-changing environment with our growing and evolving portfolio of content,” Packer said Wednesday in a statement.

Added Iacono in his own statement: "It gives me great pleasure to pass the stewardship of Lionsgate’s brilliant international distribution team to such a talented and dynamic executive as Agapy as I venture on this entrepreneurial path.”

Kapouranis joined Lionsgate in May 2011 from MGM Studios.
