Samsung Now Selling 'Sero' Rotating TV

The TV lets you finally view smartphone-made content on a big screen without any compromises.

You can now buy Samsung’s giant rotating Sero TV in the US for the UK for $1,999.

The 43-inch display is designed to appeal to social media users, who are capturing videos and photos horizontally and vertically.

A smartphone can easily switch between the landscape and portrait modes by rotating the device. Your phone’s screen will automatically adjust, allowing the picture or clip to fill up the entire screen. The same option doesn't exist on a traditional TV, which has to shrink the portrait-mode video and fill the rest of the space with black bars. In response, Samsung created the Sero, which can automatically rotate 360 degrees. The panel itself sits on top of an easel, which can flip the screen vertically.

The Korean electronics vendor showed off the Sero back at CES 2020, and we were pretty impressed. It lets you finally view smartphone-made content on a big screen without any compromises. All you have to do is cast your phone’s screen to the TV. When you rotate your handset, the Sero will shift as well.

“With people now using their TVs in different ways than ever before, whether scrolling through social media, watching the latest viral videos, or catching up on TV, The Sero is able to seamlessly adapt to enhance whatever content the user is watching, bringing a more bespoke and optimized experience,” Dan Hastings, a Samsung Electronics UK director, said in today’s announcement.

In terms of specs, the Sero has a 4K QLED display and built-in front-firing 60W speakers. It also has three HDMI ports, two USB slots, and works with voice assistants including Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant, Samsung’s Bixby, in addition to Apple’s AirPlay 2.
