Snake Eyes, as directed by Robert Schwentke (“The Divergent Series: Insurgent”), has style and verve, with a diabolical family plot that creates a reasonable quota of actual drama. It methodically sets up sequels—to be recast and released around 2030, judging by the Joes’ cinematic track record so far. TL:DR it is good, but...

A film can be a lot of things, this film took on that idea. its an origin, a world franchise builder, its about redemption and finding new beginnings. the characters have multiple objectives and are not trusting of each other. GI Joe has always been about covertTL:DR it is good, but...

A film can be a lot of things, this film took on that idea. its an origin, a world franchise builder, its about redemption and finding new beginnings. the characters have multiple objectives and are not trusting of each other. GI Joe has always been about covert tactics, espionage and saving the world. I feel this film accomplished that while changing the original story to a more suitably modern take while not wasting anyone's time.

the movie can't please everyone, old gi joe fans want the original snake eyes, others don't want white washing of a character that "could" be from Asia, some hate how sloppy the fights and spectacles are cut, others hate the narrative because it didn't do such and such. it a pg-13 movie based on a series of children's action figures and it should be taken for what it is, not for what it isn't.

to finish this review, I liked all of the characters and thought the performances were spectacular. I liked the campiness humor thrown in to some of the fights and training. the stunts and slow motion in the fight scenes were also very cool and despite some close cuts, it didn't hinder the actions on display or the story. I think the future of the GI Joe movie franchise is looking brighter than it ever has and in the end, what every fan wants is more content.… Expand

I had "pandemic-level" expectations for this movie, but it surprised me. Thoroughly entertaining, good plot, good acting. Kept me engaged throughout.

This movie is good modern day action movie with a decent story on top of it all. The visuals along with the fighting were beautiful but due to the movie being PG, some fight scenes could have been more dramatic. In case you don’t know (I didn’t), the G.I. Joe franchise is a whole world of action heroes, much like the Marvel Universe. The titular character (played by Henry Golding, whose not especially charismatic and lets British accent slip a few times) is taken from his hard knock street fighterIn case you don’t know (I didn’t), the G.I. The titular character (played by Henry Golding, whose not especially charismatic and lets British accent slip a few times) is taken from his hard knock street fighter life in LA to the world of ancient Japanese clans and ninja warriors. He undergoes 3 challenges in his training, but struggles with the losses from his past. The fight scenes are snappy, but they’re shot with such a dizzying camera that it’s often hard to see what’s really happening. As the genre goes, this is a competent addition, but one that will also quickly be forgotten.… Expand

Here we have another lame attempt at cashing in on the GI Joe franchise. Unfortunately this movie is as worthless as the first two movies and can go straight into the trash bin. Snake Eyes is such a bland film with nothing special about it. There is so much potential in this film, but it never tries to do anything out of the box. The big problem with the movie is that everything is so muddled in the story department. The screenwriters did such a bad job setting upSnake Eyes is such a bland film with nothing special about it. There is so much potential in this film, but it never tries to do anything out of the box. The big problem with the movie is that everything is so muddled in the story department. The screenwriters did such a bad job setting up all the characters which didn’t allow good connections to them. The whole story is set up poorly and becomes worse and worse as the film moves on. The third act suffers from this problem the most as so many components of the film feel so unsupported by the first two acts. The filmmakers had 2 hours to tell a good story and they used it poorly. The cinematography is also really bad with such bad camera work that makes all the action scenes feel so messy and hard to follow. The use of hand-held cameras was a really bad choice as all the stunt work felt lost in blurry, fast-moving shots. Almost all the action scenes are so shaky and make for a sloppy feel. The direction also feels very lazy and uninspired. Robert Schwentke does absolutely nothing new or unique making for such a boring film. There weren’t any scenes that made me gasp or put me in awe. Everything was so basic. I think the cast does a decent job. This was my first taste of Henry Golding and I wasn’t disappointed. Golding does a great job showing his character’s emotions and had a great connection with every character. Andrew Koji does a nice job even if his character was poorly written. Úrsula Corberó and Samara Weaving really make this movie entertaining and I really wanted to see more of them. Their characters each feel so underdeveloped which sucks because both actresses do such a fantastic job with what’s given to them. The worldbuilding in Snake Eyes is also quite nice. The forest and the place where the clan resides were really stunning. I think a lot of the production design is decent here. Yes, it isn’t quite visually stunning, but it’s good for what it is. A better score from composer Martin Todsharow would have made the visuals better. The basic, almost non-existent score does absolutely nothing to elevate the film and makes a lot of the scenes feel uneventful and not exciting. Overall, Snake Eyes is an uninspired film with the lack of anything unique. The terrible cinematography and boring direction bring down this film so much leaving only the cast to make this film slightly entertaining. If the Snake Eyes sequel goes through, it really needs an overhaul in almost all the departments. Read more reviews like this at postcreditreviews.com… Expand

If you love shaky cam then you'll love this movie. Seriously, the camera is shaking so much that is literally impossible to see what is going on. DO. NOT. WATCH.
